Approved Procedure

Required by section 140 of the Electoral Act 2004

Approved by the Tasmanian Electoral Commission on 5 May 2005

For the purposes of section 140 of the Electoral Act 2004, the Tasmanian Electoral Commission approve the following:

Polling places which receive less than twenty formal votes

Where less than twenty formal votes have been received at a polling place, the first preference figures for that polling place are not to be published separately.  In such a situation, the Commissioner is to determine whether the total votes are to be combined with the figure from an adjacent polling place, or combined with other polling places that also received less than 20 formal votes.
