Prepoll vote information

If you are going to be out of your division, or for some other valid reason not able to vote in person on polling day, you must vote early. You can vote early from Monday 13 July at the following locations during normal business hours:

Hobart: Hobart Area Office, Second Floor, AMP Building, 86 Collins St

Rosny: State Library, Bligh St (9.30am to 5.30pm weekdays)

Launceston: Bass Division Office, Ground Floor, 87 George St

Burnie: Braddon Division Office, First Floor, Harris Building, 49 Cattley St

Interstate: any Australian Electoral Commission Divisional Office. Call 13 23 26 for the nearest location.

Assistance for vision impaired electors

Our electronic system can assist blind and vision-impaired electors to complete their ballot papers independently. This system will be available at the Rosny State Library during the pre-poll period and at the Bellerive polling place (St Marks Anglican Church Hall) on polling day. Call 13 23 26 for details.

If you need a postal vote for the Pembroke by-election:

Postal Vote application

Overseas electors

It is now too late to apply for an overseas postal vote for this year's Legislative Council elections. Overseas postal vote applications closed 6pm 28 July 2009.

Return of applications

Applications for a postal vote must reach the returning officer before:

  • sent within Australia – 6.00pm Thursday 30 July 2009; or
  • sent from overseas – 6.00pm Tuesday 28 July 2009.

Return of Postal votes

An elector who has applied for and received a postal vote must, before the close of polling, complete the ballot paper, place it in the declaration envelope, sign the declaration; and

  • post it to the returning officer; or
  • deliver it to a polling place before close of polling.

The returning officer may receive envelopes until 10.00am Tuesday 11 August 2009.
